EDUCATION SYSTEM

The AQF is the national policy for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training. It incorporates the qualifications from each education and training sector into a single comprehensive national qualifications framework. The AQF was introduced in 1995 to underpin the national system of qualifications in Australia encompassing higher education, vocational education and training and schools.
University offers on-campus bachelor degrees or postgraduate courses (including certificate, postgraduate diploma, master and doctoral programs). Vocational training courses are popular courses offered by government as well as private universities.

 

FEE STRUCTURE

The average tuition fees at one of Australia’s tertiary institutions ranges between AUD$20,000 and AUD$30,000 a year. The annual cost of Masters Degree ranges from AU$15,000 to AU$36,000. The approximate cost of Doctoral programs is AU$14,000

 

INTAKES

Unlike a single intake in the Indian universities, Australian colleges and universities offer two major intakes. Intakes may also be referred to as a semester in some universities. The two intakes available in Australia are:

  Semester 1:  Starts late February/early March to late May/early June

  Semester 2: Starts late July/early August through to November

 

VISA REQUIREMENT

If you intend to study in Australia, you must apply for a student visa (which falls under subclass 500). You can be granted a student visa only if you wish to undertake a registered course or part of a registered course on a full-time basis.  Note: The course which you are applying should be registered with Commonwealth Register of Institutions and courses for Overseas for Overseas Students (CRICOS). Visa Fees is AUD 560. Visa validity is 5 years (max.) depends on your coursework. A registered course is an education or training course offered by an Australian education provider who is registered with the Australian Government to offer courses to overseas students.
